On this website, we use an AI-powered dialogue system for personalised book recommendations provided by BRAIN SNACKZ GmbH, Alt-Moabit 37, 10555 Berlin (hereinafter referred to as „BRAIN SNACKZ“). The system enables you to receive suitable book recommendations from our catalogue via a text-based dialogue. BRAIN SNACKZ is used on the website as a data processor in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR. Data processing takes place on servers within the EU.
Use without registration (anonymous use): When using the advisory system without registration, the following data is processed: your text inputs in the dialogue as well as the system-generated responses and product recommendations, a pseudonymous user ID (stored in your browser's local storage, valid indefinitely, can be deleted by you at any time), technical metadata (timestamps, session duration, browser used, device type) and your IP address. No cookies are set. The IP address is stored exclusively in the server logs for 30 days and serves to ensure technical functionality. The dialogue histories are stored linked to the pseudonymous user ID.
Various data are processed as part of using the advisory system.
To provide the service, BRAIN SNACKZ uses the following sub-processors: Google Cloud EMEA Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (cloud infrastructure, hosting, AI model processing via Google Vertex AI) and LangChain, Inc., 548 Market St, PMB 72419, San Francisco, CA 94104-5401, USA (monitoring and analysis of the dialogue system, data processing in the EU region: Netherlands, Germany). As a result of LangChain's corporate headquarters being in the USA, the use of LangChain may involve the transfer of personal data to the USA. This is safeguarded by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
When used anonymously, processing is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing user-friendly, personalised product advice in the webshop.
The use of the advisory system is voluntary. The webshop can also be used fully without using the dialogue system. We recommend not entering any sensitive personal data in the dialogue.
